März ist es auf den Tag genau 50 Jahre her, dass Pink Floyd ihr bahnbrechendes Werk in Deutschland veröffentlichten. "The Dark Side Of The Moon" hat bis heute nichts von seiner Popularität eingebüßt und fasziniert immer wieder neue Generationen von Hörer:innen. Pink Floyd entwickelten das Album seinerzeit teilweise im Rahmen ihrer Live-Performances, was dazu führte, dass eine frühe Version der Suite bereits einige Monate vor Beginn der Studioaufnahmen seine Live-Premiere im Londoner Rainbow Theatre feierte. "The Dark Side Of The Moon" ist das achte Studioalbum von Pink Floyd und wurde 1972 und 1973 in den EMI Studios (heute Abbey Road Studios) in London aufgenommen. Das ikonische Plattencover, auf dem ein weißer Lichtstrahl sich in einem Prisma in den Spektralfarben bricht, wurde von Storm Thorgerson von Hipgnosis entworfen und von George Hardie gezeichnet. "The Dark Side Of The Moon" hat sich weltweit über 50 Millionen Mal verkauft. "The Dark Side Of The Moon - Live At Wembley Empire Pool, London, 1974" ist ab dem 24. März erstmals überhaupt als Vinyl erhältlich. Die Liveaufnahme entstand im November 1974 im Rahmen der Wintertournee der Band und ist nun zum ersten Mal als eigenständiges Album zu haben. Das Cover zeigt eine 1973 von George Hardie erstellte Strichzeichnung. |
