| Information: | Jamaikanische Reggae-Evergreens: Kompilation zu Ehren des bekanntesten Rastafaris der Welt. Marley-Hits wie "Buffalo Soldier", "Get Up, Stand Up", "I Shot The Sheriff", "No Woman, No Cry", "Could You Be Loved?", "Redemption Song" oder "Stir It Up" sind nicht nur Reggae-Fans ein Begriff, sondern allen, die an Popmusik interessiert sind. Wenn auf einen Musiker die Bezeichnung "Legende" zutrifft, dann auf den jamaikanischen, leider viel zu früh 1981 verstorbenen Sänger, Gitarristen und Songschreiber. Er ist bis heute der bekannteste Reggae-Vertreter und für viele Menschen der Dritten Welt noch immer eine wichtige Identifikationsfigur. Kennzeichnend für Marleys Schaffen war die Rastafari-Religion. Viele seiner Songs haben daher spirituelle Inhalte, die sich auf den Rastafarianismus beziehen. Damit verwoben sind oftmals sozialkritische und politische Gedanken. Daneben verfasste Bob Marley jedoch auch profane Liebeslieder. Marleys Karriere begann in den frühen Sechzigerjahren. Bereits Mitte des Jahrzehnts feierte er mit Vorläuferbands der Wailers erste Erfolge. Sie brachten ihm bescheidenen Wohlstand ein. Ab Anfang der 70er wurden Marley und die Wailers auch international bekannt. 1974 lösten Bob Marley, Peter Tosh und Bunny Wailer die Band im Streit auf. Alle drei starteten ihre Solokarriere - mit unterschiedlichem Erfolg. |
