| Information: | Optimistischer Technicolor-Pop aus Neuseeland. In Neuseeland sind die Farben kräftiger als anderswo: der Himmel blauer, die Pflanzen grüner - und so wundert es nicht, dass mitunter auch die Musik etwas heller und bunter klingt. Seit 1997 erfreut die Phoenix Foundation aus Wellington die Indie-Szene mit ihrem Technicolor-Pop. Auch das mittlerweile sechste Album der Band schlägt wieder einen trotzig-optimistischen Grundton an. Und: So viel Energie war nie. Im Entstehungsprozess standen Drums und Percussion an erster Stelle, reine Akustikgitarren mussten weichen - das Ergebnis ist ein treibender, beinahe psychedelischer Sound. So liegen im energetischen Opener "Mountain" Television-inspirierte Gitarren über einem coolen Afro-Kraut-Groove. Der optimistische Sound ist laut Band als Trotzreaktion gegen all ihre Ängste gedacht. Das funktioniert auch auf dieser Hälfte der Erdkugel! Für Fans von: Super Furry Animals, Wilco. |
